How to better use pur hot melt adhesive

PUR hot melt adhesive (Polyurethane Reactive) is a new type of one-component, additive-free hot-melt adhesive, which is cured by moisture in the air and has excellent bonding strength and impact resistance after being completely cured. It has the characteristics of excellent bonding compressive strength, heat resistance, solvent corrosion resistance and temperature resistance. In recent years, it has become a better adhesive for woodworking furniture formwork edge sealing.

 

How to improve the operation quality and high efficiency of the automatic edge banding machine more efficiently has become the focus of people's attention. Generally speaking, for us, it is determined by three points:

1. Compositional hazards of PUR hot melt adhesive

More or less of some components of PUR hot melt adhesive directly affect the viscosity of PUR. We can consider from the perspective of product characteristics and focus on improving the performance of PUR hot melt adhesives (such as viscosity, melting temperature, melting viscosity, initial adhesion, etc.), so it is better to choose a suitable adhesive.

2. The hazards of different bonding materials

PUR hot melt adhesives have good adhesion to different boards, such as plastic, plastic, laminated glass, metal materials, leather products, wood, textiles, etc. For different bonding raw materials, choose the glue model that suits you.

3. More or less glue application

The amount of PUR glue applied will affect the curing time. If the glue layer is thin, the curing time will be shorter. The place where the amount of glue is applied is large. As the amount of curing glue is relatively incomplete, the curing time can be very long, and it will also affect the bonding strength of the parts.

4. Opening time of edge banding

The possible duration of the PUR hot melt adhesive in the sample in the air must be kept within 1 minute (from edge banding to installation). Bonding is carried out within the effective opening time to avoid the drying and solidification of the thread sheath due to the long open time, resulting in poor wetting effect of the thread sheath, thus affecting the bonding strength.

5. Edge banding

After the PUR hot melt adhesive is applied, the plate parts must be pressed together, the time should not be less than 10 seconds, and the working pressure should not be less than 2KG. The purpose is to promote the glue to establish a good glue thickness and glue wetting effect between the two bonding surfaces.

6. Natural environment temperature and humidity

PUR hot melt adhesive needs to be cured in the air by the moisture in the body. The relative humidity of the air is high and the curing time is short. On the contrary, the time is long and the working temperature is high, which is beneficial to the participation of water in the reaction, and the curing time can be correspondingly reduced.

7. Adhesive surface treatment

Because there are oxide layer rust, stainless steel layer, phosphating layer and other interfacial layers in the adherend, the surface treatment of the adherend will affect the bonding strength. Eliminate the bonding substances such as oil stains, dust, paint, release agent, oxide layer and other factors on the surface of the bonded part, which is beneficial to improve the bonding effect of PUR hot melt adhesive.
